PYTCH Campus Energy Storage

With an abundance of excess solar power generated in nine months of the year, PYTCH wanted to capture and store as much power as possible. This power has been used to power their Bristol-based facility overnight as well as provide backup power.

project details

Using advanced inverters, the energy storage battery system is programmed to charge when there is excess solar and discharge when solar yield is limited.

This all helps to avoid any grid use and effectively means that grid power is the last resort when there is no sun and batteries are depleted.

Battery life is an important factor, so the “battery management system:” (AKA “BMS”) is programmed to charge and discharge the batteries in a manner that maximizes battery life span.

The system has a capacity of over 200 KwHR – the equivalent of about three long-range electric cars.
